After Amber Alert
WALTON – Cell-phone users through Otsego County received an Amber Alert at 8 p.m. Friday, and Oneonta Police today report the missing 2-day-old Walton baby girl the subject of the alert, was left by the mother, Edna Cering, 33, with a relative in the Town of Hancock.
The baby, who reportedly was born without medical care, was found by Walton police at 12:48 a.m today. She appeared in good health and was taken to a local hospital to be examined, police said.
The Amber Alert was lifted shortly after 1 a.m.
Police are still seeking the mother and her companion, Michael Hazen, 39, according to reports. Their relationship to the child is unclear. Both have a violent criminal history, police said.
Hazen is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 215 pounds. Cering is described as a white female with brown hair and hazel eyes, standing about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.
