‘Willy Wonka’ Fans Delighted

As ‘Charlie Bucket’ Tells All

After the scene from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," where Charlie Bucket and his grandfather have to burp to return to earth, Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie as a boy, had to spring to his feet to describe how the special effects worked. Ostrum, now a large-animal vet in Lowell, west of Utica, was being interviewed by the Hall of Fame's Bruce Markusen in the Grandstand Theater at 25 Main. This year's carnival theme is "Cooperstown and the Chocolate Factory." After Ostrum's appearance, "Wonka" fans planned to stay for a screening of the 1971 movie, a Cabin Fever series offering scheduled to correspond with the carnival, which continues Saturday and Sunday.
