With 48 New COVID Cases,

Health Dept. ‘Overwhelmed’

COOPERSTOWN – With 27 cases of COVID-19 reported Saturday and 21 this afternoon, Public Health Director Heidi Bond is warning that the contact tracers are “overwhelmed.”

Contact tracers will still contact those who have been identified as positive, but calls to those who were in direct contact with people who tested positive may be delayed because of the high volume of calls to be made.

“If you test positive, isolate yourself and you will be contacted by the local health department,” Bond said. “If you are notified that you have been in contact with a positive case, please self-quarantine for 14 days.”

Currently, there are 170 active cases, with 16 hospitalized, down two from Friday.

  1. Hmmm…on Friday, Australia reported that there were a total of 47 active cases in the entire country. In other words, Otsego County has reported more new cases since Friday than current active cases in the entire continent of Australia. No wonder the County Health Department is overwhelmed.
